When John first began selling his work at craft fairs I thought that some of his pieces, especially the mushrooms, would benefit from a lift. So I went out to seek a fairy or two! Having no success in finding anything suitable I decided to make my own - hence the birth of my Felt Folk and Fairies. These delightful characters live in bushes at the bottom of our garden and occasionally offer themselves for sale, but only to kind and loving homes.
They are totally hand made from 100% wool felt, natural sheep's wool, silk flowers (the fairies), wooden beads and acorn caps.

John has very kindly given me this page

At school and college I studied ceramics for a while and later on attended adult education at Barnsley College. I now attend classes with James Oughtibridge at Dab Hand Studios, Denby Dale. With John's encouragement I have now set up my own studio and produce what I believe to be unique pieces of ceramics.
My ceramic plaques are inspired by the crystal clear waters and fantastic light found around the Isles of Scilly. They incorporate pottery shards found on the beaches there and re-cycled glass. They are designed to be fun and a sunny reminder of the long hot summers we experience in Great Britain!

My other works include hand built ceramics where I am experimenting with textures and glaze effects, here again recycled glass is used, mixed with oxides to give amazing effects and also added to the glaze to give texture. I am also working on a number of pieces in collaboration with John's woodturning.
Having a studio of my own has allowed me the freedom to break away and try something new, hopefully resulting in pieces that will be desirable, eye-catching and different.
